NEWARK, NJ – The West Essex boys basketball team opened its season with an 84-50 victory over University on Tuesday.

Senior guard Max Garcia scored 30 points for the Knights, including five 3-point baskets, for the Knights, who led, 42-19, at halftime.

Chris Chritchett finished with 16 points, Luke Kesack had 11 points and Therapon Pappatherapontos scored 10 points for West Essex.


Gaetano Iavarone chipped in with nine points in the win.

West Essex will play its home opener against Science Park on Thursday at 7 p.m.
