Jake Long threw three touchdown passes and West Essex won its third football game in a row, 40-7, over Lakeland on Friday night.

Mikey Cerisano intercepted Lakeland's first pass of the game to set West Essex (3-1) up in great field position before Long connected with Justin Perini on a 10-yard TD pass with 9:54 left in the first quarter.

On third-and-five later in the first quarter, Long rolled out on a waggle to the left, completed a pass to Anthony Drago near the left sideline. Drago evaded a tackle at the Lakeland 46-yard line and sped down the sideline for a 61-yard TD reception with 6:13 left.

An 11-yard TD run by Nick Sangillo extended West Essex' lead to 20-0. Second-quarter TDs by Michael Lozito (a 2-yard run) and Drago (a 28-yard reception from Long) gave the Knights a 33-0 halftime lead.

West Essex' final touchdown came in answer to Lakeland's only score of the night. Luke Kesack returned a Lakeland kickoff 91 yards for a TD. Robert Warmington kicked four extra points.

Long was 8-for-11 passing for 175 yards. Drago caught five passes for 145 yards. Lakeland is 2-2.
