Max Garcia ran for two touchdowns and added another on defense in West Essex’s 35-14 win over Wayne Hills in Wayne.

Garcia first put West Essex (1-1) ahead 7-0 with a 2-yard score in the first quarter. With West Essex leading 21-14 at halftime, Garcia opened up the third with a 3-yard touchdown run, and then he capped it off with a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth.

Nick Sangillo also ran for a 65-yard touchdown and Michael Lozito had a 1-yard score on the ground for the Knights.

Anthon Drago added six catches for 77 yards to along with 11 tackles and a pick on defense for West Essex.

For Wayne Hills (1-1), Mike Fitzsimmons threw a 58-yard touchdown to David Van Hook, and tossed a 12-yard touchdown to Jack Monisera.

The two scores tied the game at 7-7 and 14-14, respectively, at the time.

West Essex next hosts Caldwell, while Wayne Hills is home against Nutley.
