Jake Long scored all four of his team’s touchdowns, including a go-ahead score with seconds left in the fourth, to power West Essex to a 28-21 road win over Caldwell, in West Caldwell.

The Knights (1-2) started the final drive of the game at their own 24 with four minutes on the clock and marched their way down the field to set up Long for a decisive four-yard touchdown rush with 8 seconds left in the game. The 28-21 lead was West Essex’s first of the game.

Long tied the game earlier in the fourth with a short rushing score. The West Essex quarterback ran in a 15-yard touchdown to start the second half, after running in a 2-yard scoring rush in the second quarter.

Caldwell (0-2) led 14-7 at the half.

Caldwell QB Adam Sepe threw a pair of touchdown passes to Santino Russo, the second of which was a one-handed catch for a 17-yard score. Sepe also ran in a touchdown in the opening quarter.
